Appeared in two games as a redshirt freshman in 2018 where she went 0 for 2 from the plate. Made her collegiate debut against Angelo State on Feb. 9 in San Angelo. Also made an appearance as a pinch hitter against Tarleton State on April 10. 

2017:
Redshirt.

High School: Robstown High School (Class of 2016)
Garza played softball for (4) years for the Cotton Pickers as 1st Baseman and Catcher. In (2013) she earned Honorable Mention. In (2014) she earned Second Team First Base All-District. In (2015) Garza earned Second Team First Base All-District. Finally, in (2016) she earned Honorable Mention.

Garza played as a 1st Baseman for (1) year for her club.

Personal: Serena Garza is the daughter of Debra and Juan Garza and is joined by her (2) siblings John and Hailie. Garza decided to make her way to TAMIU because she felt comfortable and loved right away by the TAMIU staff and team. Plus the beauty of the campus caught her attention as well, which made the transition a lot easier. Garza's most inspirational figure is one of her softball coaches, Teresa Flores-Lentz, because she taught her to believe in herself and to never sit around and wait for what she wants. Garza's future aspirations is to succeed at TAMIU in both academics and athletics. Her favorite athlete is Bethany Hamilton, an American professional surfer who suffered a shark attack in which her left arm was bitten off but comes back to be a success in professional surfing. In her spare time, Garza likes to hang out with friends and have a good time.
