Ruiz attended Nuevo Reinode Granada in Bogota, Colombia before earning an academic scholarship to attend a University.

Camiis the daughter Carlos Alfonso Ruiz and Maria del Pilar Ballesteros. She is a sister to LillianaAndrea Ruiz Ballesteros. Camichose TAMIU because it gave her an opportunity to play volleyball and study her degree. Her most inspirational figure is her Dad. After TAMIU Cami will pursue a masters degree in civil engineering and hopes to become an assistant volleyball coach to pay for classes. In her free time, Ruiz enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, watching tv series or movies, or skyping with her family.
