Final Stats
SAN ANTONIO - St. Mary's pitcher Emily Britain threw a complete game shutout allowing only four hits as the Rattlers topped the Texas A&M International University Softball team 6-0 Friday afternoon to start their three game series.
The los drops the Dustdevils to 4-3 in conference play, 13-28 overall.
Kristen LaBuhn, Rochelle Nash, Regina Morales and Nikki Salazar were the only Dustdevils able to get to Britain each finishing 1-3 at the plate, while the rest of the TAMIU lineup finished 0-21. Kyndall Reaves dropped to 4-11 on the season after giving up six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
After holding the Rattlers to just one run through the first three innings, St. Mary's scored five over the final three to put the game out of reach. The Rattlers scored two in the fourth and fifth, before closing the door with a final run in the sixth. St. Mary's finished with ten total hits led by Shelly Lee, Vianna Gutierrez and Richelle Morales who each finished 2-3.
The Dustdevils will look to salvage the series Saturday afternoon, closing out the three-game set with a doubleheader. First pitch for game one is set for 12:00 p.m., with game two scheduled for a 2:30 start.
