Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAREDO (March 21, 2013) – Ninth ranked Oklahoma City University (NAIA) racked up 25 total hits and outscored TAMIU 21-3, as the Stars grabbed a doubleheader sweep over the Dustdevils Thursday afternoon at Dustdevil Field.

The Stars got a solid performance from starting pitcher Jamie Rateliff and scored 10 runs over the final two innings to take game one 12-2.  OCU then belted five home runs in the first inning of game two, completing the sweep with a 9-1 win.

The pair of losses dropped TAMIU to 16-25 on the season, while OCU improved to 26-6.  The Dustdevils will take a two week break before returning to action, hosting Incarnate Word for a doubleheader on April 3.

Rateliff improved to 7-0 on the year for OCU, holding TAMIU to five hits through five innings in the early game.  She also finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run and five RBI.  Rateliff gave the Stars a 2-0 lead in the second taking TAMIU pitcher Sarah Johnson deep to left center.

Rochelle Nash accounted for TAMIU’s only two RBI in game one, driving home Olivia Garcia with a single in the third and hitting her team leading eighth home run of the year in the sixth.

OCU strung together five hits in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-1, before adding six more in the fifth off relief pitcher Salina Mitchell to put the game away.

In the late game, OCU ripped five home runs in the first inning off TAMIU starter Kyndall Reaves.

Kyndra Holasek and LeeAnn Lopez hit back-to-back dingers with one away, before Magean De La Torre and Rateliff followed suit after a fly out by Drew Wright.  An error at short by Kristen LaBuhn kept the inning alive and Emily Krienke made TAMIU pay, hitting a two run homer to make it a 6-0 lead for OCU.

Rateliff started in the circle once again for the Stars, going three innings before giving way to Elizabeth Oberst.  The duo held the Dustdevils to just two hits as Rateliff improved to 8-0 with the win.

OCU capitalized on two TAMIU errors in the third to add another run, before tacking on two more in the fourth to go up 9-0.  Cassie Garcia singled up the middle to lead off the fourth and advanced to third on two wild pitches.  She then came home on a RBI ground out by Esme Gonzalez.

Oberst struck out the side in the fifth to end the game via the mercy rule.
