KINGSVILLE, Texas (February 13, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Softball team continued play in the TAMUK Tournament. The Dustdevils lost the contest 8-10. TAMIU is now 6-7 overall.
TAMIU jumped out to an early lead in the first inning.
Alyssa Acuna roped a 3 RBI double to center field, putting the Dustdevils up 3-1. Acuna added another RBI in the fifth, driving in
Erika Sanchez.
Brenda Parnin crossed the plate on a passed ball for the second run of the inning.
Brandi Giles followed that with an RBI single through the left side of the infield, scoring
Chelsea Capello. Down by two (2) in the final inning,
Taylor Vines drove in two (2) runs with a single up the middle. The Lions scored in the top of the eighth, leading to the final score of 10-8.
Acuna led the Dustdevils at the plate, going 2-4 with 4 RBI.
Brenda Parnin finished 2-5 with two (2) runs scored. Vines went 1-5, driving in 2 RBI.
Delainy Thompson got the start for TAMIU, pitching 5.2 innings. Thompson recorded six (6) strikeouts.
Krystal De La Cruz took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings. De La Cruz allowed just two (2) hits and no earned runs, striking out four (4).
The Dustdevils are back in action Sunday. TAMIU will take on Black Hills State, first pitch is set for 8 am CST.
