KINGSVILLE, Texas (February 13, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International Softball team defeated Southwestern Oklahoma early Saturday morning. The Dustdevils defeated the Bulldogs 5-3, moving to 6-6 overall in the 2016 season.
Brittany Mussett got things started for the Dustdevils in the third. Mussett lined an RBI single to left field, scoring
Taylor Vines.
Anna Parnin added an RBI single in the fourth, scoring
Alyssa Acuna.
Krissy Sardelich added another run in the inning, driving in Parnin from third. The Bulldogs tied the game at three (3) in the fifth, before the Dustdevils added the final runs of the ballgame.
With the game tied through six (6) innings, the Dustdevils pushed two (2) runs across to win the game. Brenda Parnin drove in the first run on a fielding error. Chelsea Capello drove in the second run on an RBI single to center.
Mussett led the way for TAMIU at the plate, going 3-4 with an RBI. Anna Parnin went 2-4 with an RBI, while Acuna went 1-4 with a run scored.
Krystal De La Cruz continued her outstanding season, picking up her fifth win. De La Cruz pitched seven (7) innings, allowing just three (3) runs on seven (7) hits. De La Cruz struck out a seson high seven (7). De La Cruz picked up her fifth win of the season, tied for the top spot on the Heartland Conference leaderboard.
The Dustdevils will be back in action this afternoon. TAMIU will take on Texas A&M Commerce, first pitch is set for 1 pm.
