CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (February 16, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on Division 1 Corpus Christi on Tuesday. The Dustdevils were dealt two 0-1 losses. TAMIU is now 7-10 in the 2016 camapign.
An all-out pitcher's duel was in effect throughout both games Tuesday. The Islanders pushed across a run in the sixth inning of game one, and a run in the bottom of the seventh in game two. Both sides kept the basepaths clear throughout as well. A combined 17 hits and only two (2) runs were given up on the day.
Game one saw
Brenda Parnin,
Anna Parnin,
Chelsea Capello, and
Krystal Perez record hits for the Dustdevils.
Brenda Parnin,
Brittany Mussett, and
Krissy Sardelich each recorded a hit in game two.
Brenda Parnin let TAMIU at the plate with two (2) hits on the day.
Brandi Giles got the start in game one for the DUstdevils. Giles pitched six (6) innings, allowing just one (1) run on five (5) hits. Giles struck out three (3) Islanders.
Krystal De La Cruz started game two, pitching four (4) innings. De La Cruz allowed just two (2) hits, striking out four (4).
Delainy Thompson pitched the final two (2) Innings, allowing three (3) hits and no earned runs.
The Dustdevils will be back in action Friday, February 19. TAMIU will take part in the Rattler Invitational at St. Mary's University. The Dustdevils take on Oklahoma Christian, first pitch is set for 12 pm CST.
