Rams bats too much for Dustdevils

LAREDO, Texas (February 5, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International Baseball team lost a pair of games to Angelo State on Friday night. The Dustdevils move to 1-4 on the season.

Game 1: Dustdevils 2, Rams 9
The Dustdevils scored first in the second inning. Jeffrey Morgan scored from second on an Alexander Cabezas double. The Rams would score the next seven (7) runs. TAMIU crossed the plate once more in the bottom of the sixth. Alex Medina singled, scoring Cody Perez. The game ended with a final score of 9-2.

Medina and Cabezas each recorded one hit and one RBI. Sergio Pollorena recorded the third hit for the Dustdevils. Osvaldo Raya started for TAMIU, pitching 5 innings. Raya allowed four (4) runs on (4) hits, striking out two (2). Nick Perales threw one inning in relief, allowing two (2) earned runs on one hit, striking out two. Erick Garay also provided one inning of relief for the Dustdevils.

Game 2: Dustdevils, Rams
An early defecit proved to be too much for TAMIU in game 2. Facing a five run deficit in through 6 1/2 innings, the Dustdevil bats came to life. TAMIU used four hits to push two runs across the plate. The first run came when Perez singled to center, scoring Morgan from third. The second run came with two outs on a William Mora single, scoring Perez from second. The Rams would add one more in the eighth, leading to the final score of 6-2.

Pollorena, Medina, and Mora each finished with two (2) hits for the Dustdevils. Dustin Labit started on the mound for TAMIU, pitching 4.2 innings. Labit struck out three, allowing four (4) runs on six (6) hits. Dylan Allen and Justin Diaz combined in the relief effort for the Dustdevils.

The Dustdevils and Rams will play the third game of the weekend series Saturday. First pitch is slated for 1 pm at Uni-Trade stadium.
