TAMIU picks up a win and a loss in doubleheader split with Oklahoma Christian

LAREDO, Texas (March 24, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team kicked off a three game Heartland Conference series with the Oklahoma Christian Eagles on Thursday. TAMIU won game one 6-2 but fell 0-9 in game two. TAMIU is now 12-16 overall (3-5 HC).

Game 1: TAMIU 6, OC 2
The key to a game one win was a four run first inning for TAMIU. Sergio Pollorena drove in the first run of the game with a bases loaded groundout. Alex Medina delivered the second run on an RBI single, scoring Abel Aguilar. William Mora and Medina came around to score on a ball sent into left field off the bat of Alex Cabezas. Osvaldo Raya would shut down the Eagles bats throughout the game, allowing just eight (8) hits and two (2) runs, throwing a seven inning complete game. The Eagles would muster two runs but Ian Acosta drove in Pollorena on an RBI double. TAMIU's sixth run came on a wild pitch, scoring Jeffrey Morgan.

Game 2: TAMIU 0, OC 9
The Eagles jumped out early in game two, scoring five runs in the first and four in the third opening a 9-0 lead. TAMIU used Justin Diaz, Erick Garay, and Daniel Edmondo to shut down the Eagles lineup for the remainder of the game.
