LAREDO, Texas (February 13, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team hosted Arlington Baptist in the TAMIU KCB on Monday afternoon. The Dustdevils picked up a 94-64 win, improving to 17-9 overall.
First Half:
TAMIU jumped ahead early in Monday's matchup, opening a 10 point lead in just over four minutes of play. With 4:57 on the clock, TAMIU would push the lead to 10 for a fifth time, the Patriots would not come within 10 through the remainder of the game. A fast-paced first half saw the Dustdevils put up 49 points and take a 21 point lead into the half.
Bunja Yaboe played just nine minutes in the first half but put up 16 points and hauled in seven rebounds.
Denzel Bellot and
Deveino McRae each picked up seven points through 20 minutes of play.
Second Half:
The Dustdevils continued to control play in the second half, pushing their lead to 28 in the first three minutes of action. Arlington Baptist would not come within 25 points of the Dustdevils for the remainder of the game. TAMIU held their largest lead with 7:49 remaining, at 34 points. 12 Dustdevils saw action in the final 20 minutes with
Jordan VanDeKop picking up a team high eight points.
Yaboe picked up a game high 20 points, finishing a rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards.
Dan Milota finished the afternoon with 12 points while VanDeKop and Bellot each put up 10 points. TAMIU shot 48 percent from the field and converted on nine three-point shots in the win.

Bryan Weakley commented on the win, "I am glad we were able to play a lot of guys today. We need to have a great week of preparation as we near the end of the regular season."

The Dustdevils close out the home portion of the 2016-17 season on Saturday, February 18. TAMIU hosts St. Mary's at the TAMIU KCB for Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 5pm.
