DURANT, Oklahoma (February 4, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team continued play in the Southeastern Oklahoma Invitational on Saturday. The Dustdevils picked up a win over Cameron and dropped a game against Southern Nazarene. The Dustdevils are now 1-3 overall.
Game One: TAMIU 8 - Southern Nazarene 11
Play on Saturday began with a high-scoring affair against Southern Nazarene. The teams combined for 19 total runs. After SNU put up three in the first inning, TAMIU came back to bring the game within one in the bottom of the inning.
Cassie Cannon was walked in for the first Dustdevil run while
Erika Sanchez drove in
Alyssa Acuna on an RBI fielder's choice. Scoring resumed in the fourth with SNU putting up four runs. TAMIU would battle back with another pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. The Dustdevils would bring the game within two runs in the sixth inning, plating four runs. Cannon would be walked in for a second time in the game before
Robi Kami drove in
Brenda Parnin on an RBI single. An errant throw allowed
Amanda Hinajosa to score the third run of the inning.
Alyssa Contreras drove in
Brandi Giles for the fourth run on a sacrifice fly.
Delainy Thompson took the loss, tossing five innings.
Tori Carrion would throw the final two innings, allowing just one run in the seventh.
Game Two: TAMIU 6 - Cameron 4
The Dustdevils picked up win number one after putting up four runs in the first inning of game two. Acuna drove in Cannon on an RBI single to open the game. Kami would drive in
Brenda Parnin for the second run before Acuna came around to score on a groundout off the bat of
Erika Sanchez. Giles would score the fourth run on a wild pitch. The Aggies would come back to tie the game at four in the fifth inning. The Dustdevils would answer with a run in the sixth after Sanchez lined an RBI triple, scoring Kami.
Jenelle Rodriguez would add an insurance run in the seventh, driving in Cannon on an RBI single.
Sara Caterson picked up her first collegiate win in the circle. Caterson tossed seven innings, allowing four runs, striking out five.

Play in the Southeastern Oklahoma Invitational continues on Sunday. The Dustdevils take on Central Missouri at 12pm, followed by a matchup against Midwestern State at 2:30pm.
