Texas Womans deals TAMIU two tight losses in Denton

LAREDO, Texas (April 19, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on Texas Woman's University in an evening doubleheader on Wednesday. TAMIU was dealt a 1-2 loss in game one, falling 5-8 in game two. The Dustdevils move to 14-29 overall. 

Game 1: TAMIU 1 - TWU 2
The Pioneers struck first in game one, plating a run in the third inning. TWU would add a second run in the fifth, pushing the lead to two runs. 

TAMIU came back in the ninth, cutting the lead to one. A Pioneer error allowed Robi Kami to cross the plate. 

The Dustdevils were unable to tie the game before the final out was recorded. 

Delainy Thompson took the loss in the circle, tossing three innings. Thompson allowed just one run, striking out a pair. Tori Carrion tossed the final three innings, allowing one run. 

Game 2: TAMIU 5 - TWU 8
The Dustdevils came out strong in game two, plating a pair of runs in the first inning. 

Brenda Parnin scored the first Dustdevil run after Alyssa Acuna grounded out to the pitcher. Erika Sanchez would drive in a second run on an RBI single up the middle, scoring Cassie Cannon.

The Pioneers picked up a run in the bottom of the first, cutting the lead to one. 

TAMIU opened a 5-1 lead in the second, plating three runs. 

Acuna drove in Taylor Vines for the third Dustdevil run on an RBI single to left field. 

Robi Kami followed with a two RBI single up the middle, scoring Cannon and Parnin. 

TWU scored seven unanswered runs to take game two 8-5.

Sara Caterson took the loss after tossing three innings in the circle. Carrion picked up an additional inning and two thirds in game two, allowing a pair of hits,

The Dustdevils continue play on the road, heading to Goodwell, Oklahoma. TAMIU will take on Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday, April 21,
