WICHITA, Kan. (March 10, 2018) – Alyssa Acuna and Melania Gamboa combined to drive in three runs in the first two innings as the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International University defeated Newman 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to complete the three-game sweep of the Jets. The win improves TAMIU to 9-20 overall and 6-5 in Heartland Conference play while NU falls to 4-22 (1-9).

TAMIU 3, Newman 1
The Dustdevils scored first for the first time in the series on a two-run double by Acuna in the top of the first followed by a RBI single by Gamboa in the second to extend the lead. Three runs was plenty as Melanie Lint (4-6) held the Jets to three hits in her first start in two of weeks while Delainy Thompson retired all six Jets she faced for her first save of the season and second of her career.
