Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – The Dustdevils (5-13, 2-6) traveled up to Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma Christian Eagles (10-6, 6-2) in a Lone Star Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
Game 1
Erika Cortez got the start on the mound for the Dustdevils in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
The game was knotted at zero until the Eagles got on the board first with an RBI-single putting them up 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth.
Grace Anderson took a no-hitter to the top of the sixth inning when
Victoria Espinoza tied the game at one with a solo home run.
Kristin Maldonado and
Kennedy Griego followed up with singles, but the Dustdevils did not bring another run across.
The Eagles walked it off in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single, giving them the 2-1 victory in game one.
Cortez finished the game with 6.1 innings pitched while allowing two runs on eight hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
Game 2
The Dustdevils looked to bounce back in game two of Saturday's doubleheader in Oklahoma, with
Carla Arellano getting the start.
The Eagles got on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, before adding two more in the bottom of the second.
OCU extended their lead in the fourth, scoring five runs off a 3-run home run, an RBI single and an RBI double.
Arellano pitched 3.1 innings and allowed eight runs on 10 hits.
Tessa Ramirez closed out the game for TAMIU pitching 0.2 innings and allowing two hits with one walk and one strikeout.
The Dustdevil offense was held to no hits in the game,
Katelyn Luera reaching via a walk and
Isabella Perez reaching via an error by the shortstop.
The Dustdevils finish the series tomorrow in Oklahoma City at 12 p.m.
