Dustdevils Softball Earns Four All-Lone Star Conference Awards

Laredo, Texas- Texas A&M International University Softball took home three All-Lone Star Conference Awards announced by the Lone Star Conference at Wednesday night's championship banquet. Individuals on the First team are the top-votes received at their position. The Second and Third team all-conference players are at-large picks decided on by the voters.

The first baseman Victoria Gonzalez, the junior from San Jaun, Texas was named to the First Team All-Conference. Gonzalez played in 51 games in 2024 in which the junior started in all 51 games on the year. Gonzalez finished the season with a .312 batting average in 157 at bats. The junior had 49 hits, 31 RBI's, a .535 slugging percentage and 10 homers on the year. Gonzalez finished the season with a .981 fielding percentage for the season. 

Kennedy Griego, the third baseman from Covina, California was named to the Third Team All-Conference. Griego also started in all 51 games in the season. Finishing the season strong with 159 at bats, driving in 22 runs, totaling 54 hits, 1 home run and finishing the season with a .340 average.

Receiving All-Freshman honors was Kylie Goad. The outstanding freshman pitcher finished the season with 96 innings pitched, totaling 32 strikeouts, a 3.57 ERA and finished the season with a 7-8 pitching record. 

 Lone Star Conference Golden Glove Awards for softball were also announced on Wednesday by league officials at the conference tournament championship reception.
 
Presented for the 12th season, the Golden Glove awards are determined by a vote of LSC head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions.
 
Golden Glove honorees for the 2024 season include shortstop Taylor Rowley from Cameron; Alondra Vasquez, third base from Eastern New Mexico; pitcher Maxine Valdez from Lubbock Christian; Oklahoma Christian's Whitney Walde at catcher and Aaliyah Brown at first base; outfielder Reba Reyes from St. Mary's; outfielder Kristy Alanis from Texas A&M International; from UT Tyler outfielders JT Smith and Sam Schott, and second base Nicole Price; and outfielder Brittni Rufus from West Texas A&M.
 

Alanis finished the season with 1.000 fielding percentage and 0 errors. Alanis over five years of play finished with a remarkable .992 fielding percentage. Earning her the Golden Glove award in three different seasons.

The Dustdevils Softball team finished with a record of 15-37 on the year and 12-30 in the conference.
