Akumal, Mexico – The Texas A&M International University men's golf team hit the course in Mexico this week, competing in the DII Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya hosted by Western New Mexico. The Dustdevils battled through three rounds of play on the challenging international track, finishing 15th overall with a team score of 981 (326–326–329).
Leading the way for TAMIU was
Juan Monckeberg, who posted rounds of 77, 74, and 80 to finish tied for 24th at 231.
Elvis Steen was steady across all three rounds, carding identical scores of 78 to finish at 234. Francisco Aceves tallied an overall score of 255 (82–85–88), while
Brody Polzin closed with his best round of the tournament to finish at 256 (89–89–85). Rounding out the lineup was Jose Vazquez, who improved each day and finished with a total score of 273 (96–91–86).
The Dustdevils will return stateside to continue their fall schedule at the DBU Classic on Oct. 27–28 in Dallas, Texas.
