EDMOND, OKLAHOMA The Dustdevils Men's Golf team finishes 11th in the Oklahoma Christian Oak Tree Invitational with Senior Juan Monckeberg finishing first individually after 36 holes of play.
Single digit wind chills canceled morning play Monday, shortening the tournament from 54 holes over two days to 36 holes.
18 teams played two rounds in the invitational with West Texas A&M finishing first. Lubbock Christian finished second leading with 103 Pars. Harding University finished third leading the way in Birdies, Eagles, and Par-4s.
In individual play TAMIU Senior Juan Monckeberg finished first going three below par in round one and one below par in round two. This is the first time this season Dustdevils Men's Golf has placed first in a tournament, and it's the second time Monckeberg has done this at TAMIU.
Dustdevils as a team finished tied for 11th with Oklahoma Christian with two rounds 59 over par.
Dustdevils head to Midwestern State for their next tournament on March 23-24 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Senior from Santiago,Chile Juan Monckeberg, receives the highest finish by a Dustdevil this season and the highest placed finish of his career here at TAMIU. Monckeberg is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
