Nyamukondiwa Ties First In Southern Colorado Open

PUEBLO, COLORADO    TAMIU Women's Golf finish third in the Southern Colorado Open with Senior Margret Nyamukondiwa tying for 1st place individually over the weekend.  

The Dustdevils in Pueblo competed against 14 other teams in a 36-hole course comprised of two rounds of play. In round one TAMIU finished 18 over par with Nyamukondiwa finishing one over, collecting two par-four and two par-threes.  

In the second round of play, the Dustdevils finished 13 over par with Nyamukondiwa going two under par with three par-three and two par fours. 

Margret Nyamukondiwa, Senior from Harare, Zimbabwe, now has collected two top five finishes this season. The last time Nyamukondiwa finished near the top was the Jack Brown Invitational this season where she placed 4th.  

Nyamukondiwa ties Lisa Ekberg of Colorado St. Pueblo with her –1 final score. 

 Rodolfo Gonzales, Head Coach of Men's and Women's Golf, spoke about Nyamukondiwa.  

"Margret is an amazing person and has been our leader. A pleasure to coach. She quietly adapts to anything, works hard, and is dedicated to the University and program. She is most deserving of this win. " 

This is the third top five finish by TAMIU as a team this season placing second in the Travis Roy Memorial Invite and tied for second in the Jack Brown Invitational.  

TAMIU Women's Golf heads to Tucson, Arizona to play in the West Texas Desert Invite in the coming weeks.
