TUCSON, ARIZONA — Texas A&M International women's golf finished tied for 10th at the West Texas A&M Desert Invitational at the Ventana Canyon Club, posting a +53 (5802) in a tournament that featured multiple nationally ranked programs.
West Texas A&M, ranked No. 30 nationally, captured the team title at +14, while Colorado State-Pueblo (No. 31) and Angelo State (No. 49) tied for second at +26. The field also included No. 41 CSU Monterey Bay and No. 50 Texas A&M International, highlighting the depth of competition throughout the event.
Margret Nyamukondiwa led TAMIU with a strong showing, tying for 14th overall at +6. She opened with an even-par 72 in Round 1 before finishing with a 78 in Round 2, setting the tone for the Dustdevils with consistent play. Nyamukondiwa also finished tied 7th in Par 4s and Pars.
Kiara Montebon placed 30th at +12, turning in rounds of 75 and 81. Her steady performance in the opening round helped position TAMIU early in the tournament. Montebon also finished tied 3rd in Par 3s.
Emilynn Tran finished 49th at +18, improving from an 82 in Round 1 to an 80 in Round 2, contributing to the team's overall improvement in the final round.
Agathe Lacoste posted rounds of 80 and 83 to finish tied for 53rd at +19 and tied for 3rd in Par 3s, while Ebba Nordin rounded out the lineup with rounds of 80 and 86 to place 58th at +22.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Margret Nyamukondiwa is a senior golfer for Texas A&M International University and is currently pursuing a degree in Business Management. A native of Harare, Zimbabwe, Margret is the daughter of Tawanda Nyamukondiwa and Revai Zuze and was born on August 17, 2003.
Nyamukondiwa delivered a top-15 finish and an even-par opening round, leading the Dustdevils with consistent scoring across both days.
