2017:
Herrera had one of the best seasons in program history earning All-Heartland Conference 1^st Team honors. The San Leandro, Calif. native also earned D2CCA 1st Team All-South Central honors as he recorded the second-most shutouts (7) in a single season in program history making 53 saves in 15 matches. His nine wins (9-3-3) were also the second-most in a single season. He ranked seventh nationally in save percentage (.841) and 12^th in goals against average (.631). Made a career-high six saves against #23 St. Edward’s and UT Permian Basin. 

Transfer: Iowa Western Community College
Played two years for the Reivers.
 
High School: San Leandro High School
Had a stellar high school career where he earned 1^st Team All-League honors as a goalkeeper four times. He was also named the League’s Most Valuable Player as a senior.
 
Personal:
Carlos Herrera is the son of Mareclino Herrera and Adelaida Leoe and has three siblings, Lucila, Oswalda and Haydee. Hernandez chose TAMIU because of the great academic programs that are offered that allow him to play while pursuing a degree. His most inspirational figure in his life is his father. He has aspirations of playing soccer at the professional level and would love to share his love of the beautiful game by coaching youth soccer. In his spare time, Herrera likes to listen to music, hang out with friends and play FIFA.
