Before joining TAMIU, Ciro Benavides played two seasons for the Warriors of Centerville,Iowa under head coach Matthew Torres. Ciro Benavides made second team all conference with a batting average of .330 while making it to the post season his freshman year.

Ciro Benavides played four years of baseball for the bulldogs of J.B Alexander Highschool in Laredo,Texas. Benavides received all-state recognition while batting .450 AVG his senior year.
