Box Score 2 SAN ANGELO, Texas (February 11, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team continued play in the ASU George McCorkel Classic on Saturday. TAMIU was dealt a 0-1 loss to Emporia before defeating Adams State 5-0 in the nightcap.
Game 1: TAMIU 0 - Emporia 1
The Dustdevils were shutout offensively in game on on Saturday. In an all-out pitchers duel, the teams combined for just five hits, with TAMIU picking up two in the loss. The game saw a shutout brewing through four innings before Emporia put up a run in the top of the fifth inning. The Dustdevils were not able to match the run in the final three innings, leading to a 0-1 loss.
Brenda Parnin and
Alyssa Acuna each recorded a hit for TAMIU.
Brandi Giles took the loss in the circle, tossing a complete game. Giles allowed the lone run on three hits.
Game 2: TAMIU 5 - ASU 0
TAMIU would find their offensive stride in the second of two games on Saturday. The Dustdevils faced Adams State for the second day in a row. After defeating the Grizzlies on Friday, a shutout from
Delainy Thompson sealed the deal on a second Dustdevil win.
Robi Kami put the Dustdevils ahead early in game two, grounding out to second.
Cassie Cannon would score on the play. Parnin would come around to score TAMIU's second run on an errant throw in the third.
Taylor Vines put TAMIU ahead 3-0 on an RBI single to right field, scoring Amanda Hinojosa.
Avianna Galvan would score the Dustdevils fourth run after
Samantha Edmiston reached first on a fielders choice. Parnin would add a fifth Dustdevil run,driving in
Anna Parnin on a groundout to third. Thompson tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just five hits. Thompson struck out three batters in the win.

The Dustdevils continue play in the George McCorkel Classic on Sunday. TAMIU will take on Emporia State at 2:45pm followed by a matchup with host, Angelo State at 5pm.
