STEPHENVILLE, Texas (April 3, 2018) – Texas A&M International University softball dropped both games of a doubleheader to #20 Tarleton State on Tuesday afternoon in Stephenville. The pair of losses drop the Dustdevils to 14-27 overall while the TexAnns improve to 34-7.
The Dustdevils open a 12-game home stand with a weekend series against the Hillcats of Rogers State. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday, April 6. Links for live stats and video can be found on the softball schedule page at GoDustdevils.com.
Tarleton State 2, TAMIU 0
Maya Paul recorded the Dustdevils first hit of the game in the top of the first inning with a one out single to left field before advancing to second on a
Maddison Schofield walk. The TexAnns would open the scoring in the bottom half of the inning on a bases loaded walk. The home team would make it 2-0 in the following inning on an error on a fly ball.
Caterson (2-6) went 3 innings allowing two runs (two earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out two batters.
Tori Carrion made her eighth appearance of the season scattering two hits over 3 innings.
Tarleton State 4, TAMIU 0
The Dustdevils put at least one runner in scoring position in two of the first three innings but were unable to get anyone across the plate.
Cassie Cannon singled to short in the top of the third with two outs before stealing second with
Melanie Gamboa taking the open base on a five pitch walk.
Delainy Thompson held the TexAnns offense in check until the fifth inning when they plated a pair of runs on two hits and one error. They would add two more in the next inning to make it 4-0 after five complete innings.
Thompson (6-11) went 3 1-3 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and one strikeout.
Melanie Lint came on in relief going 2 2-3 innings with two runs (no earned) on two hits and one walk while striking out two batters.
