2017:
Hernandez finished her record breaking career with a 113th place finish at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Evansville, Ind. She became the first Dustdevil in program history to earn two trips to the national meet covering the 6,000-meter course in 22:40.8. She earned All-Region honors for the third time in her career after a record-breaking performance at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championships. She finished ninth breaking the 6,000-meter school record running 21:40.42 at The Range. She earned All-Conference honors for a fourth straight season after finishing fifth at the Heartland Conference championships covering the 6,000-meter course at Cessna Activity Center in 22:23.3. Earlier in the season, the Laredo, Texas product broke the 5,000-meter school record running 17:58.75 at the MSSU Southern Stampede en route to a 21st place finish. She was named the conference women’s runner of the week and HERO of the Week by HERO Sports after finishing second overall and first among Division II runners at the UIW Invitational. She garnered conference women’s runner of the week after winning the Islander Splash covering the 5K course in 18:33.7.

2016:
Hernandez had an impressive junior campaign where she earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Central Region honors for the second time in her career with a top-20 finish at the regional championships. She finished 19th covering the 6,000-meter course at Washington Park in Denver, Colo. In a time of 22:57.1 in November just missing out on a qualifying spot for the national meet. She earned All-Heartland Conference honors for the third straight year with a seventh place finish at the championships hosted by Dallas Baptist. She covered the 6,000m course in 22:40.4. She won the Islander Splash for the second straight year running 19:37.9 over the 5,000-meter course finishing more than 20 seconds ahead of the nearest collegiate runner. She finished 35th overall and first Division II runner at the Rice Invitational where she covered the 5,000-meter course in 15:47.2. She finished 24th at the 7th Annual Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Metro State in Denver, Colo.

2015:
Hernandez started off her Sophomore season with a first place finish at the TAMIU Invitational. Hernandez crossed the finish line in 19 minutes 50 seconds. She continued her success placing first at the TAMUCC Invitational. She finished with a time of 18:31, nearly a minute before the second place finisher. At the SWTC Invitational Hernandez recorded her third 1st place finish with a time of 18:52. Hernandez earned Heartland Conference Runner of the Week honors for the second time in 2015 after placing 1st at the UIW Invitational. Rebekah continued her success in the Heartland Conference Finals placing second with a time of 21:50.

2014:
Hernandez made an impact right away for the Dustdevils. In her first meet she placed 16th in a Division 1 dominated field, she was named Heartland Conference Runner of the Week. At the UTSA Invitational Hernandez finished in fourth (4th) place. At the TAMUCC Invitational Hernandez broke a a TAMIU School Record finishing with a time of 18:21. Rebekah earned Heartland Conference Runner of the Week honors for the second time. Hernandez finished 2nd at the UIW Invitational. Hernandez continued her dominance in the Heartland Conference, winning the Conference Championship with a time of 22:02. She placed 14th in the Regional Meet and finished in the top 100 at the NCAA Championship Meet. Capping her outstanding Freshman year, Hernandez was named Heartland Conference Runner of the Year and Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year. Hernandez was also named to the 2015 All-Conference team.

High School: John B. Alexander High School (Class of 2014)
During her time at John B. Alexander Rebekah lettered in cross country for (4) years and track for (4) years. Hernandez holds the school record in the 3200 meter and 1600 meter events. Rebekah qualified for the Texas High School Cross Country State Meet (3) times. Hernandez qualified for the Regional Meet (4) times. She was the District 29-6A Champion in cross country and track (2) times. Additionaly Hernandez was named Runner of the Year (2) times.
 
Personal:
Rebekah is the daughter of Sonya and Luis Hernandez. She has two brothers, Jacob and Jonah Hernandez. Hernandez chose TAMIU because she loved the atmosphere of this university because it is so diverse. Hernandez wants to make an impact saying “I have the desire to represent my home town of Laredo and make a name for TAMIU at every meet I compete at. Home is where the heart is.” Her role model is her mother. After TAMIU Rebekah wants to open a dental office in Laredo and give back to her hometown community. In her spare time Rebekah enjoys volunteering with her church, community service, traveling, spending time with family, being outdoors, creating art, and eating.
