Gomez had an impressive freshman season that included a 27
th place finish at the Heartland Conference Cross Country Championships covering the 6,000-meter course in 23:50.8. She finished 34
th at the 7
th Annual Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Metro State in Denver, Colo. Running 25:45.4 over 6,000m. Recorded her first career Top 10 finish at the Islander Splash finishing ninth running a personal best time of 21:07.1 over 5,000-meters. Recorded a 67
th place finish at the Rice Invitational in her second collegiate race running 16:41.2 over 4,163-meters.
High School: United High School (Class of 2016)
Gomez ran varsity track and cross country all (4) years of high school. She qualified for the regional and area meet during her time with the Longhorns.
Personal: Dariela Gomez is the daughter of Alma and Ariel Gomez. She is joined by her (3) siblings: Anakaren, Jessica, and Ariel. Gomez decided to stay in Laredo to attend TAMIU for its wonderful campus, great team, great people, and its many opportunities to get more involved. Her most inspirational figures are her parents. Her aspirations are to one day make a difference in the world whether big or small, and to create a charity program that provides a proper education for those who are in need of it. Her favorite athlete is Alexi Pappas, a Greek-American long distance runner. In her spare time, Gomez enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, watching movies, and trying to make people's days a lot brighter.
